Measurement Connection to The One and Only Ivan

Today for math, we worked in tables to research the measurements of some of the characters in The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate.  Here is what we learned:

• HY: We need to work on teams and have a bit less leadership.
• NB: Elephants can be 10 feet tall. 
• LW: Gorillas are 6 feet tall when they are standing.
• EB: Bananas are 10 inches.
• NY: Parrots are 25 cm tall.
• AM: We learned that a seal can be around 6 feet tall.
• JA: We all came up with different answers in our group because we researched different sites and different species.  
• NB: We think Julia is 5 feet 2 in., as we looked up, "How tall are 10 year-olds."

Tomorrow we are going to put the heights in order and create a large graph out in our hallway!
